Services Fingerprinting Services

Live Scan digital fingerprinting and ink fingerprinting is available by appointment only.

The Sarnia Police Service (SPS) offers non-criminal fingerprinting (digital or ink) services for the following purposes:

  • Employment
  • Immigration
  • US Waiver/Visa
  • Record suspensions

Live Scan digital fingerprinting

Digital fingerprints are captured using a Live Scan scanning device and sent electronically to the RCMP for processing. For processing times, refer to the RCMP’s website.

Book an appointment

Digital fingerprinting is done on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons by appointment only. It takes approximately 10 minutes. Please call the Sarnia Police Service at 519-344-8861, ext. 5265 to book your appointment.

Schedule your appointment at least 1-2 weeks in advance to ensure an appointment.

Bring your completed fingerprint request form to your appointment.

Originating Agency Identifier numbers

For employment with the federal government (Coast Guard, Canada Post, etc.) an Originating Agency Identifier (ORI) number is required. The RCMP will send the results electronically to prospective employers instead of returning them to the applicant. An ORI number consists of two alphanumeric characters (BX) and five numbers (12345).

Ink and roll fingerprinting

If you require conventional ink and roll fingerprinting, book an appointment with SPS by calling 519-344-8861 ext. 5265.

Your fingerprints will be taken using ink and sent to the RCMP for processing. The RCMP will send the results directly to you via Canada Post.

Fingerprinting fees

A $38.00 fee applies for every application. Cash or debit payments are accepted. Records Dept. Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am — 4:30pm.
