Community Aamjiwnaang First Nation

The Sarnia Police Service (SPS) is honoured to provide policing services to Aamjiwnaang First Nation.

Aamjiwnaang First nation is a community of about 2,500 Chippewa (Ojibwe) people, with approximately 900 people living in the community.

The SPS Aamjiwnaang Community Officer provides a unique, effective, efficient and culturally appropriate service to all the people of Aamjiwnaang First Nation, supporting the community’s goal of a harmonious and healthy community.

Key objectives of the Aamjiwnaang Community Officer are:

  • Strengthen relationships between the Indigenous community and the Sarnia Police Service by incorporating Indigenous involvement and input and providing service delivery in a holistic way.
  • Connect and partner with individuals, groups, community organizations and Council to improve and maintain the safety, security and quality of life in the community.
  • Maintain a visible police presence and provide policing services, including the enforcement of federal, provincial and municipal statutes in response to citizens' complaints, service calls and assignments.
