Job description

A volunteer position as a Sarnia Police Service Auxiliary Officer is demanding but rewarding.

The Auxiliary Unit is comprised of everyday citizens from all walks of life. People who felt it necessary that they become an integral and fundamental part of their police service by means of contributing to their community through volunteering.

The duties of an Auxiliary Officer are:

  • Support the work of sworn police officers on local crime prevention initiatives and patrols
  • Participate in ground searches for lost or missing persons
  • Volunteer at numerous, large-scale, annual events throughout the year

Your role will be making a significant contribution to the safety and well-being of the community at large.

Application process

  1. Submission of the completed application form, all required documents, and the checklist of mandatory documents to recruitment@police.sarnia.on.ca. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
  2. Applicants will be required to participate in the Ontario Fitness Pin Test and achieve a minimum score of 75%. The fitness test will be part of the candidate’s overall evaluation to determine suitability for the position however is not considered to be a pass or fail assessment.   3. Applicants will be required to complete a Pre-Background Questionnaire prior to being interviewed.
  4. An interview will be conducted in front of a panel of recruiters. If successful in the interview, the application will be invited to move forward in the selection process.
  5. Medical examination.
  6. Psychological examination.
  7. Background investigation.
  8. Conditional offer of employment contingent on satisfactory results of all aspects of the recruitment process.
