Fail to remain collision leads to impaired driving charges

At 9:30pm on January 11, 2025, SPS officers attended the area of Trudeau Avenue and Prestwick Crescent for a collision.  A driver of a black jeep had collided with two parked vehicles and fled the scene despite sustaining significant front-end damage.

Thanks to multiple witness accounts, the involved vehicle was quickly located in a parking lot in the Finch Drive and Wellington Street area.  The driver was found lying on the ground beside the vehicle and displaying clear signs of impairment.  He was examined/cleared medically by ambulance and placed under arrest.

He later provided two breath samples of 260 / 250 (over three times the legal limit).

A 53 year old Sarnia man has been charged with Impaired Operation, Fail to Remain, and over .08, all contrary to section 320 of the Criminal Code.

Impaired driving, by drug or alcohol, is a crime in progress.  If you suspect that someone is driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, please call 911 immediately or contact the Sarnia Police Service at 519-344-8861.
