Although the Sarnia Police Service has sent our multiple media releases advising of this scam, residents of Sarnia continue to fall victim to it.

Although this scam is a popular one and may seem obvious to many members of the public, senior citizens, and those who are less social media savvy, are prone to the manipulative angle of this particular scheme.
The Sarnia Police Service is asking residents of Sarnia to have a verbal conversation with their elderly relatives and educate them about this scam. Sharing this media release (although helpful) will not be an adequate measure to educate senior citizens who may not be active on social media.
This scam has continually occured for many years, and continues to be a constant source of victimization.
